There are as many ways of making revision notes as there are people making revision notes!
The trick, as I’ve said, is to find the best way for you to do it. However I want you to bear in mind that the more we use our visual system in our revision, the more efficient our revision will be.
• 50% of our brains pathways are connected to vision. That’s an enormous amount of brainpower.
• 90% of the information going to our brain is visual. Remember we said, something like 10,000 bits of information are being received every second? 90% of that is visual.
• The brain processes visual information 60 000 times faster than text. They say a picture paints 1000 words. Well, now you know why!
• Visual aids improve learning by 400%. Using pictures, charts, symbols, colour, formatting, columns, diagrams, space etc makes your learning four times more efficient.
You can make brain-friendly notes, using visual aids to speed up your revision while making it more effective. And if you’re thinking you’re not a good visualiser, fear not! Most people think they’re not good visualisers, and you are easily sufficiently visual for the techniques you need to use – and they will save you time. Goodness knows, that would be a great place to start!
