OMG! You won’t believe this…. but apparently some of you actually failed to read my newsletter last week!!

Seriously!

Imagine my astonishment!

So, as a special treat (and there’ll be questions later, so pay attention!) I’m reposting some of the lovely messages I’ve been getting, from delighted and successful clients, young and ahem, not so young!

And yes, more news of success this week, as uni students desist celebrating long enough to let me know of their fabulous results; as my ‘A’ Level students think to mention the great grades they achieved and that they’re off to their first-choice universities and my younger teenagers beginning to receive their GCSE results, allowing them to proceed to the next level!

Like what I did there?  😉

So (and as I recommend to my clients) I’m taking the time to enjoy the significant difference I’ve helped to make.

It’s a good feeling.

Many congratulations everyone. You’ve all worked very hard, and thoroughly deserve the success you’ve achieved.

Onwards and upwards, eh!

Meanwhile, some of our other young people will be wondering what on earth to do, having not got the grades they needed. Not only will their plans have been dashed but no doubt, their self-esteem will have taken a nasty knock.

I had an enquiry from a concerned dad this week, asking for advice – given that his son’s plans were now up in the air as a result of exam disappointment.

I did feel for him. All his friends are out partying and talking about leaving home and taking that big, grown-up step towards independence and adulthood.

He feels thwarted, embarrassed, ashamed, disappointed….

He’s not alone – but it feels like it, stopped in his tracks as he is.

It’s so important to drum it home to our kids that how they’ve done in exams isn’t who they are. It might indeed be a reflection of a certain way of thinking, a set of behaviours or a particular strategy – but it’s not who they are as a person.

This does not make them a failure.

And in any case, there are so many ways to skin a cat these days. Plenty of opportunities to get to where they want to go.

This is not the end of the world.

And in any case, how many stories have we heard of academic dropouts and failures who’ve turned out to be the most successful entrepreneurs in history!!!

Yes, getting the right exam grades might be just the ticket. If you want to go to a top university for engineering, you’d better present them with the exam results they require.

And there’s always a way. And if you want something badly enough, you’ll find it.

I’m looking for teenagers who need a better learning strategy and mindset; young people who really want to pass their exams, have a lot less stress but don’t know where to start.

And I want to talk to their parents too. I know you want the world for your kids. If you’re at a loss for how to help them you need to talk to me.
